General Tips & Tricks
Restoring paintings can be an art in and of itself. This section is dedicated to acting as a guide to help you in The Hunt for Red Panda. Track down the vandal. With the proper tools, you should have no trouble at all. Here’s how it works:
Restoring Paintings
The core gameplay of The Hunt for Red Panda revolves around restoring paintings. Each painting is filled with a number of objects that don’t belong. In order to restore paintings, it’s important to acquaint yourself with the tools of the trade:
- Reagent- The first tool at the top of the selection on the right. Click on this button to turn your cursor into a dropper, then click on an object within a painting that doesn’t belong to select it. Selecting an object that doesn’t belong with this tool will cause it to turn one of three colors, indicating which tool you should use next to remove it.
- Eraser- One of the tools you can use to remove objects that don’t belong in paintings. Objects which require the use of the eraser will turn a sparkling pink or purple hue. Select the eraser and click on these objects to erase them from the painting! Be careful when using the eraser not to erase an unwanted section of the painting by accident!
- Brush- One of the tools you can use to restore paintings. Sections of the painting which require the use of the brush will turn white. Select the brush, then click and paint over the white area to fill it in with new paint, correcting it. Be careful when using the brush not to accidentally splash paint on the canvas!
- Scraper- One of the tools you can use to restore paintings. Sections of the painting which require the use of the scraper will turn blue. Use the scraper to remove the blue pulp from the surface of the painting. You may also use the scraper to remove any accidental paint splashes you create. Be careful not to accidentally cut the canvas when using the scraper!
- Needle- One of the tools you can use to restore paintings. If you accidentally cut the canvas with the scraper, a tear will appear. Draw a zig-zag pattern with the needle over the tear to repair it. The needle is only needed to repair any accidental tears you create.
Additional Tips and Tricks
Looking for additional tips and tricks to help you? This section covers the game’s other essentials, as well as bonus tricks to help you make the most of your time and efforts.
- You cannot select more than one object at a time when using the reagent. Once an object is selected with the reagent, you will need to use one of the other tools to remove or restore the selected area before you can use the reagent again.
- You can use hints for any objects you are having difficulty finding by clicking on the magnifying lens in the upper right corner.
- If you run out of hints, you can play a mini-game to earn an additional hint. Mini-games are outlined in a section at the end of this guide.
- You can easily reset your hints by exiting a painting and re-entering. Each time you do this, your three hints will be reset.
- Click on the palette in the lower right corner to exit a painting at any time.
- There is a meter on the left side of your screen which shows how much time is remaining. You can restore small portions of the meter by finding and removing objects. You will lose small portions of the meter by misclicking. Once the meter has run out, you will automatically be taken back to the painting select screen.
- Flies will appear sometimes while you are working on paintings. You may choose to swat them by clicking on them. Be careful when doing this, though: always have the reagent selected when swatting flies to prevent accidental damage being done to the paintings.
- It is possible to earn more than the estimated value on the paintings, but you will need to restore all of them fully in order to catch the Red Panda!

Minigames
When you run out of hints while working on restoring a painting, you may choose to play a mini-game to earn an additional hint. You can only play each type of minigame once per restoration session for a maximum of five additional hints earned. There are five minigames you can choose from:
- Paint Can- Use your cursor to guide the bucket on wheels at the bottom of the screen to the left or right. The goal is to collect drops of paint as they fall from the paint cans on the shelves. Paint will drip at different rates, so keep a sharp eye out! Successfully collect enough paint to gain an additional hint.
- Puzzle- Click on puzzle pieces to swap them into their correct locations. The left and rightmost portions of the frame are already placed correctly, and will act as a guide. Successfully complete the puzzle to gain an additional hint.
- Color Swatch- Click on colored tiles on the board to move them across the board. As colors come into contact with each other, they will combine and mix, creating a new color. The goal is to move these swatches around on the board until the color displayed at the bottom of the paint daubs on the right is made.
- Tile Match- Click on sections of two tiles as displayed at the top of the screen to remove them from the board. The goal is to remove tiles in the rows across from the locks shown on the right. Once all the tiles in these rows have been removed, the locks will come undone, and you will earn another hint.
- Item Sort- Click on an item on the moving conveyor belt, then move it up or down depending on which icon category it matches displayed at the top and bottom of the screen. Successfully sort all the items to earn an additional hint.
